A fierce battle in the Supermoto final.
The Supermoto final had ended in victory for the winner of the VOO Superbiker 2010, Mauno Hermunen. The Finn had dominated the race and finished 5 seconds ahead of Frenchman Sylvain Bidart and 17 seconds ahead of Thomas Chareyre, leader of the world championship.
Mauno Hermunen, the little devil from Finland, said after the Supermoto final: "I am happy to have won, I have consistently improved my time and I hope to be back on the podium in the VOO Superbiker final! But I am very careful. Romain Febvre is probably the driver to beat on the circuit today ... I like the track even if it is very demanding. "
Sylvain Bidart, second on the podium, had made a good start with a few falls before him he had managed to avoid. He was pleased he could keep up with Mauno Hermunen.
Thomas Chareyre, third, did not take too many risks because he can still become World Champion in the World Supermoto Championship which has its final round in 15 days.
A Starbiker final full of surprises
It's a little drizzle in a rain of stars had faced in the final of Starbike. The French 2011 European MX2 Champion Romain Febvre, was the man to beat and he took the victory. Stuck at the starting line due to a slipping rear wheel, the French brilliantly caught up to finish with 11.3 seconds ahead of Melotte. To catch his opponents, Febvre led a tough fight, especially with Cedric Mélotte
The Belgian rider Cedric Mélotte was very happy to to be back with a podium, even though ahe had a good start, he could not keep his first place because of pain in the forearm.
In the third place, behind a short distance, it was his compatriot Sven Breughelmans ending with a generous 20-second advantage in front of the rest of the pack. The circuit was to the taste of the former world champion and he raced with great pleasure, minimizing the distance that separated him from Cédric Mélotte. Hermunen once again takes the VOO Superbiker
Last year's winner Hermunen , already victorious in the early afternoon in the Supermoto final, ended the day in triumph. He was overtaken in the first corner by Romain Febvre, but Febvre made a mistake and fell. Hermunen leaded quite easily and Sebastien Tortelli, author of a good start, secured second place after racing conservatively, drawing on its extensive experience in motocross. The man of the race was yet Romain Febvre, who after two falls and two exceptional slides managed to get the third place. Appointment is made for the next scheduled Mettet VOO Superbiker of 19, 20 and 21 October 2012.
